Kotka (Finnish Eagle) is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Kymenlaakso region. The municipality has a population of 54,860 (2005) and covers an area of 750 km˛ of which 478 km˛ is water. The population density is 204 inhabitants per km˛. The municipality is officially unilingually Finnish, although there lives a Swedish-speaking minority of a few hundred persons.
