From the beginning of the 19th Century, it was conceived of as a family-run establishment with generous parlors and bedrooms where holidaying British families could spend months at a time in the cool fresh air and sylvan surroundings. A separate new wing of Family Suites was built later. A third interesting wing consists of a fine independent wood cottage located right in the middle of trees.
Set amidst tall deodars at the base of the famous Cheena Peak, the hotel is very conveniently approachable by road and has plenty of its own parking space. It is very close to the main market area and yet its extensive grounds and well-maintained gardens and trees ensure that the guests enjoy peace and tranquility.
The entire hotel has been constantly upgraded and modernized to meet the requirements of present-day tourists and guests. Yet the generous proportions of the rooms and some of the furnishings stir images of more leisurely and luxurious times gone by.
The hotel has its own conference/ banquet room capable of hosting groups upto 100 in the theatre style and upto 40 in u-shape. Weddings, bon-fires etc. can also be arranged in the grounds.
