Ballingarry (Irish: Baile an Gharraí or "Town of the Gardens") is a village in the southern part of County Tipperary, province of Munster, Republic of Ireland. It is situated near the Kilkenny border on route R691. Ballingarry itself is picturesque and, despite the encroaching suburbs of Kilkenny city, has managed to retain much of its rural ambience in the foothills of Slievenamon, a nearby mountain, steeped in ancient lore. Ballingarry consists, in the traditional style of one main street with a church, primary school and shops. A secondary school is located about half a mile from the village.
