Welcome to the Bluestack Centre, nestled at the foothills of the Bluestack Mountains in South Donegal. Established in 2001, the Centre is community owned and managed, providing a 28 bed self-catering hostel , a tennis court and two basketball courts, as well as a hearty Donegal welcome. Situated just 8km north of historical Donegal town, you are within a short cycle or drive to restaurants, museums, craft centres, shopping and entertainment.
Since its inception, the Bluestack Centre has welcomed visitors from all over the world, many returning time and again to avail of the excellent facilities and easy access to the mountains and the sea. It is the perfect place to explore the magnificent Bluestack Mountains along the waymarked Bluestack Way, for fishing on Lough Eske or the Eany River, or for that quiet, relaxing weekend.
The Bluestack Centre provides an excellent base to explore the south Donegal coastline, the thriving fishing port of Killybegs, the highest sea-cliffs in Europe at spectacular Slieve League, or visit the early Christian sites of Glencolmkille.
The beaches at Murvagh and Rossnowlagh provide safe swimming and surfing, with some of the best surf waves in the world available, while the coral strand at St. John’s Point demonstrates the presence of temperate water corals in Irish seas.
The Centre has recently developed the facilities for Geographical Investigation,
focused on the needs of students and teachers of the Leaving Certificate geography syllabus. Modules are designed for field investigation of dynamic physical geography processes and resulting landforms of Glacial Erosion, Glacial Deposition, Coastal Erosion, Coastal Deposition and River Processes.
The Bluestack Centre is pleased to offer geographical training for students, tailored to suit your specific needs, with full residential hostel facilities for up to 25 students.
