Two buildings on either side of a forest track, one is the youth hostel, the other the National Outdoor Training Centre. Originally, a farmhouse built around 1870 with a central courtyard, it was the first youth hostel to be located in a state forest.
John M. Synge, the poet, was a frequent visitor. Wild deer roam the woodlands to the front of the hostel and an outdoor sculpture exhibition nearby is of particular interest.
