With a breathtaking view of Florence below, the Antico Spedale del Bigallo is located in a medieval building dating from the 13th century which lies on a hill 5 km. south east of the city.
A hospital for pilgrims and wayfarers until the 16th century, it then became a monastery. Today it is a modern and comfortable youth hostel with 50 beds housed in an appealing medieval style.
The Bigallo Youth Hostel welcomes third millennium pilgrims who yearn to live in an atmosphere outside of time and who enjoy both the beauty of nature and the nearby art centres of Tuscany.
The Antico Spedale del Bigallo also has a ceremony room which can hold up to 100 seats, this can be used for public and private gatherings, such as weddings, anniversaries, concerts, art exhibitions, meetings and/or conferences.
