Southern Umbria, often overlooked on traditional tourist itineraries, holds a wealth of unknown surprises. The suggestive colours of a still unspoilt nature provide the backdrop for numerous villages and towns each of which is unique in its own historical and artistic past, maintaining a harmony between their ancient past and present. Amelia is an example!
The Hostel is situated in the historical centre of Amelia, in the antique palazzo of the old noble family Giustiniani. The building, parts of which date back to the 13th century, has been recently restored with great care and attention to detail by expert local artisans using traditional materials and maintaining its antique style and magnificence.
This is more visible when visiting the wing that during the last century was used as the local prison. The cells, which have now been converted into comfortable guest rooms, still have heavy double oak doors, giving guests a sense of privacy and
tranquillity.
