Situated in the Silesian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Bielsko-Biala Voivodship (1975-1998). Located near the national tourist centre Ondraszek, Wisla is a popular year-round tourist destination, with the nearby mountains favoured by ski jumpers. It is known for being the home town of ski jumper Adam Małysz and for the fact that it is the only town in Poland where evangelical people are in majority. The town is named after the Polish name for the Vistula River.
