The Old Town really is the place to stay when you’re in Edinburgh. The Castle, the Palace and the long Royal Mile that links them are all here. It is the fabulous Old Town architecture that makes Edinburgh such a famous and must-see city - it really is like living inside a film set.
Castle Rock Hostel is in a truly great location in the Old Town – at the top, almost right beside the Castle. It’s very cool, check out the photo. Inside, the hostel is decorated with amazing murals and artwork, all our rooms have big comfortable beds with plenty of light streaming through large windows.
We have Big Lounge Rooms – one with a pool table and jukebox and free tea and coffee, and another that’s quiet and non-smoking (we call it the ‘posh lounge’) with views up to the castle. Another lounge shows a video on a big screen every night.
One of the great bonuses you get when staying with us is the Free 2-hour walking tour of the Royal Mile that you can go on with a MacBackpackers tour guide. It leaves at 10am everyday and makes a terrific introduction to Edinburgh.
You will always be given a Friendly Welcome when you come to Castle Rock and our receptionists will try their best to answer any questions you may have about the hostel, Edinburgh and Scotland. This is a well-run, vibrant hostel that we keep as clean as possible.
