» Description The family managed hostel (a mountain chalet) Furmanec is located in a typical Goral Tatra mountain village Zdiar located in north-eastern part of Slovakia between mountains Belianske Tatras and Spisska Magura. It is located just 40 Km in between Zakopane, Poland and Poprad, Slovakia. Tatranska Lomnica, the famous High Tatras center, is located only 12 km away. Zdiar could be reached by bus from Poprad, as well as from Krakow in Poland, both serviced by International Airports.

Decent bus network predetermines the area to be fully discovered without a private transportation, but a car is a convenience to have. Taxi is available from Poprad, Krakow, Zakopane or the High Tatras. For all other destinations easily reached from the hostels see the section Destinations below.

There are 3 downhill ski areas a short distance from the hostel and Nordic ski trail at the hostel. Moreover, there are several national parks and reservations, caves, thermal swimming pool parks and many cultural and historical monuments not far from the place for you to explore.

Also, there is a Slovak cellar style pub/bar with a fireplace in the hostel where many relax drinking a draft beer or Tatra tea after many daily activities offered in the area, such as skiing, hiking, mountain-biking, mountaineering, horse-riding, fishing and cultural and historical site-seeing.
