Situated on a working farm, this is a very special backpackers. Set at Giant’s Castle in the Majestic Central Drakensberg we are surrounded by mountains and nature reserves. This lodge also has masses of heart, head and soul space, plus enormous Spiritual & Healing powers!
We offer an excellent South African mountain experience as we are in a World Heritage Site with some of the highest peaks in the Drakensberg!
There are tons to do, with wicked hiking, climbing, horse riding and game viewing probably heading the list. Alternatively you can explore indigenous forests, swim in cool mountain pools and waterfalls or try your hand at trout fishing!
There are also local community tours which include going to the local Sangoma and having him ‘Throw the Bones’ for you!
For the more adventurous there you can go micro lighting nearby or mushroom hunting in season, but be quick or you will miss out! Whatever you do the abundant beautiful scenery, bird and wildlife will add a special dimension to your day.
We offer organized trails and hikes varying between 1700 and 3500 metres in altitude, as well as easy access to peaks with spectacular views over the entire central Drakensberg!
After playing in the mountains all day, spend the evening relaxing in our peaceful homely place and enjoy a delicious home cooked South African country style meal, then perhaps watch satellite TV, e-mail or enjoy a few wet ones with us in the pub!
The long and the short of it is that you can adventure your butt off or just kick back and relax a do nothing but drink in the views!
