Bollnäs Municipality is a Municipality in Gävleborg County, in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Bollnäs (pop. 13,000). The town is located alongside river Ljusnan, which also follows the path of the northern main line railway (Norra Stambanan). Some kilometer south, Ljusnan is also intersected by river Voxnan. Around the town are several water areas with fish such as trout, brass and pikes. The streams Ljusnan and Voxnan also offer fishing. Natures reserves: Grossjöberget, Galvån, Kölberget, Hästhagsberget, Djupsjön-Römmaberget. The current size of municipality was created in 1974 with the reform then, when the Swedish city Bollnäs was merged with three smaller municipalities, and the "city" per se was abolished into the municipality.
