Gnosjö is a Municipality in Jönköping County, in southern Sweden where the town Gnosjö (pop. 4,500) is seat. About half of the municipal population live in the seat, the rest is spread between small towns on the country side. Gnosjö is referred to as the centre of the Gnosjöregion which is an area of enterprising small industries that are highly successful, driven by the distinctive Gnosjö Spirit. The truth of this, and possible reasons to it, have been disputed; see the proper article. The small town never received a charter. A coat of arms was therefore not needed until the Swedish Municipal reform was carried out in the 1970s (See: Municipalities of Sweden). And then these wheels were selected as fitting. Various small industries dominate the landscape. Here is a small but nationally renowned amusement park called High Chaparral offering Wild West experiences. And there is a museum of – what else – the industrial history, in this case a mmechanical work shop.
