It is glorious to stay here in this quiet, green, sleepy oasis of Basel, not far from the Rhine. Enjoy marvellous food in the vaulted dining hall and, nevertheless, be only a 10 minutes walk away from the effervescence of Basel’s city life.
The optimal starting point from which you can set out to discover Basel and its unique way of life: from the Old Town to the famous museums and the Carnival.
Stay in the best of surroundings. The youth hostel is to be found in the venerable St Alban quarter, the original home of the Basler 'Daig', as the old established Basler families are called. Behind the building flows the St Alban Canal, which earlier linked the various factories in the quarter to the Rhine.
Where you today enjoy the tasty menus, silk ribbons were previously weaved, the large wood engravings on the walls of the vaulted cellar illustrate those times. Wall sections and ceiling supports in other rooms are witness to the good old days.
