The Birch Bay Hostel is located in beautiful Birch Bay Washington, just south of the Canadian border. It servers the Bellingham area. Located in a former Air Force station, now a county park, this hostel is ideal for individuals, couples and groups.
It is within a short distance of Birch Bay State Park. The Birch Bay Hostel is an official project of the Birch Bay Lions Club and run in conjunction with Whatcom County Parks and Recreation.
Go hiking or biking around Birch Bay, lounge on the beach with a good book, or break out for wider territory. Just two hours away you can ski or climb the slopes of Mount Baker and spend sunny days fishing, hiking, and picnicking in the million-plus acres of Mount Baker National Forest.
Cycle on the flat terrain in the shadow of the Cascades or spend the morning in Bellingham; then return to Birch Bay to beach comb for agates, dig for clams or oysters, and enjoy swimming in the surprisingly warm waters of Birch Bay.
This hostel can easily lodge groups, bicycle clubs, Girl and Boy Scouts, soccer and other sports teams during winter and summer. During the off season our hostel is available only to groups for retreats, seminars, wookshops, family reunions and wedding parties where a low-cost, private and quiet setting provides a sleeping and meeting area under the same roof with minimum outside distractions.
