"No party & Many rules" Hostel N1
The honest-named 8.7 in Sofia's centre: no party, strict rules, 3 min from Banya Bashi.
Hostel N1 is the anti-party hostel — the owner put "No party & Many rules" in the name and 869 guests gave it 8.7 because the branding is honest. You get a small, spotless dorm 3 minutes from Banya Bashi Mosque, clear curfew rules posted everywhere, and a PlayStation in the lounge instead of a bar.
Hostel N1 sits on ulitsa Serdika a block from the Banya Bashi Mosque, which means you walk 5 minutes to Sveta Nedelya square and the Free Sofia Tour departure point at the Palace of Justice. The building is small — one dorm, a handful of privates, and a shared lounge with a PlayStation. There is no bar, no in-house pub crawl, no 1 a.m. drunk check-ins. That's the point.
Guests repeatedly call out the cleanliness: bunks, bathrooms, and the kitchen are scrubbed daily and it shows in the 9.6 location score holding steady across 869 reviews. In winter every bed gets an electric blanket (Sofia drops below freezing from December through February). The staff are Bulgarian students who volunteer in exchange for a bed, which means you get honest, local transit tips — not a scripted front-desk pitch.
Walk 10 minutes and you're at the Rotunda of St. George hidden inside the Presidency courtyard, or 15 minutes to the start of the Free Sofia Tour. Metro Serdika is a 2-minute walk — that's line 1 straight to the airport for €1.60. This is the hostel for travelers who want Sofia's walkable centre at a quarter of an EU-capital price, minus the hangovers.

“Very nice small hostel in a wonderful location. Everything is super easy to reach. The main sights and also the train and bus stations are within walking distance, alternatively public transportation is close by. The common room is nice and well equipped, staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm.”
“You sign up for "no party many rules" and that is exactly what you get. The hostel is clean, the rules are written everywhere and as there is no party you actually sleep. For Sofia the location could not be better.”
“Rules are clear, facilities are clean, top location — everything I expected from the name and exactly what Sofia needed.”
