§ 01 — Summary

Hostel Dvor is Split's highest-rated hostel (9.3 from 640 reviews) and the one that wins on cleanliness and staff score over any party alternative. Ten minutes on foot from Diocletian's Palace in the quieter Radunica neighbourhood, with air-conditioning, private bathrooms in every room, and a morning breakfast that reviewers single out — not a standard hostel amenity in Croatia.

§ 02 — The full story

Hostel Dvor sits on Radmilovićeva in the Radunica neighbourhood — a workers-housing stretch on the northeast edge of the Old Town where the Split that actually lives here goes about its morning. The Green Market (Pazar) is five minutes downhill, Diocletian's Palace fifteen, and the ferry port and main bus station are both about ten minutes on foot. You are close enough to walk everywhere and far enough to skip the 2am crowd noise that Booze & Snooze and Hostel Split Backpackers deal with.

The building was renovated recently. Every dorm has a private bathroom inside the room — which, at Split hostel prices, is unusual — plus air-conditioning, soundproofing, reading lights, and metal-frame bunks with privacy curtains. The 9.5 cleanliness score from 640 reviews holds up in person: the shared kitchen is scrubbed twice a day, and the simple continental breakfast (bread, cheese, prosciutto, yoghurt, coffee) shows up every morning from 7am. Reviewers repeatedly single out the staff — the 9.3 staff score is the highest in Split.

What you trade for the calm and polish is the in-house bar-crawl scene. There isn't one. Reception will point you to Charlie's Backpacker Bar near the Palace for the nightly pub-crawl, and the kitchen turns into an organic cook-together at 8pm when half the dorm grabs burek and local Karlovačko from the market. If you're coming for Ultra Europe or the Hvar party boat weekend, book Booze & Snooze; if you're coming to island-hop or actually see the Palace without a hangover, Dvor is the best-rated pick in town.

New Zealand10.0

Extremely clean, plenty of secure storage space, and working AC. Location was a 15-minute walk to the Palace and 10 minutes to the ferry. Staff were genuinely helpful with our onward Hvar connection.

This hostel is five-star in hostel terms. It is worth paying a bit more. The staff went out of their way to help us with the ferry timetables and the kitchen is the cleanest I have seen at a hostel.

EXTREMELY CLEAN rooms, bathrooms, and toilet facilities. I mean like immaculate. The breakfast is simple but good quality and the private bathroom in the dorm room was a game-saver on a hot day.
