§ 01 — Summary

Travel Hostel sits at Soukenická 43, the cobbled lane that links Náměstí Svornosti to Latrán — 1 minute from the Main Square and 4 minutes from the castle. The property's headline feature is a shared back balcony with a direct face-on view of Český Krumlov Castle and the Castle Tower across the river. 8.2 from 90 reviews (the lowest review-volume of Krumlov's four main hostels — newer to the platform, but consistently rated). On-site bar and small restaurant, equipped shared kitchen, BBQ in the courtyard, mix of dorms (~€18) and small privates. The property runs the most active social-events programme of any Krumlov hostel: rafting group sign-ups, bar-walk introductions, occasional live music in the bar.

§ 02 — The full story

Travel Hostel is at Soukenická 43, the cobbled lane that links Náměstí Svornosti to the Lazebnický bridge and Latrán. The building is a Renaissance townhouse with vaulted ground-floor rooms, a small open courtyard at the back with a barbecue, and a shared rear balcony that catches the most direct face-on view of Český Krumlov Castle and the Castle Tower across the river. Photographers from the rafting groups stop on this balcony at sunset for the photo that sells the property in every booking gallery — Αναστάσιος from Greece called the location 'great' specifically for this reason.

The property runs an on-site bar and a small restaurant (the only Krumlov hostel with a working kitchen serving guests) — the bar opens around 17h with Eggenberg dark and Pilsner Urquell on tap (€1.80-€2.20), the restaurant kitchen serves a small menu of Czech basics (goulash with bread dumplings €8, smažený sýr €6, pierogi €5) until 21h. The shared kitchen for self-cooking is on the upper floor, properly equipped (stove, microwave, fridge, full crockery, kettle). Natalia from Austria specifically called out 'the food very good' on the restaurant side.

The room mix is 4-bed and 6-bed dorms with bunks (privacy curtains, individual reading lights, lockers under bed), small private doubles, and one larger family room — most with shared bathrooms on each floor, a couple of privates with en-suite. The dorms are described by reviewers as 'simple but they did the job right' (the Greek reviewer's exact phrase) — clean, functional, no boutique frills, fair value at €18 for the central UNESCO address. The property is the most active socially of the four Krumlov hostels: morning rafting group sign-ups at reception (the Vltava put-in is 5 min downhill at Plešivec bridge), evening bar walks introduced by staff, occasional live-music nights in the bar (acoustic acts, Friday-Saturday in summer). Andrea from the UK noted the kitchen facilities and the manager's communication. Free WiFi throughout, key-box self-check-in for late arrivals (sent in the booking email), bike parking on site.

§ 06 — What travelers say

Welcoming staff who let us check in early due to us being on the rafting all day. Beds and rooms were comfy and clean, central location, the back balcony view of the castle is the best free photo spot in the Old Town. Bar was fairly priced for the centre.

Great location, excellent communication from the manager. Good kitchen facilities. Used the on-site restaurant for the first night dinner — pierogi and beer worked out cheaper than the touristy restaurants on the Main Square. Beds were fine, simple and clean.

A hostel with great location in Cesky Krumlov. The room was simple but it did the job right, and in case you visit the place for sightseeing you basically only need a clean bed and a good shower. The balcony view of the castle is the highlight of the property.

123 Plešivecká, Plešivec, 381 01 Český Krumlov — south bank of the Vltava in Plešivec, the residential local district 8 minutes on foot across the Plešivec bridge from the UNESCO Old Town. The river runs 50 metres from the door, the Vltava rafting put-in is 200 m at the bridge, the Eggenberg Brewery is 9 minutes uphill. Plešivec is the Krumlov locals' neighbourhood — quieter, cheaper coffee, a small Hruška supermarket on the corner — and the trade-off for being out of the Old Town is the property's killer view of the castle from the river-facing rooms. Bus station is 12 min uphill walk; €4 taxi from the door.
