Our Honest Take
From the Hostelpedia team. No BS, just real advice
Sir Toby's is the hostel for travelers who've done the Old Town tourist loop already and want Prague's actual personality. Holešovice is the most interesting neighborhood in the city right now — DOX gallery, Cross Club (the wildest club in Prague, built from industrial scrap), Manifesto Market for street food, and Letná Park's beer garden with panoramic views of the bridges. The hostel's garden BBQ is what sealed it for me: sitting outside with a Pilsner and a burger, surrounded by people from 10 countries, while the rest of Prague's tourists queue for trdelník they don't actually want. The cellar bar has real charm and the happy hour makes it affordable. Only downside: you're 10 minutes by tram from the center. But tram 1 runs every 5 minutes, and honestly, after one evening at Cross Club, you'll wonder why anyone stays in Old Town.
🎯 Insider Tips
- 1Walk to Letná Park beer garden (15 min) for sunset — the panoramic view of Prague's bridges is spectacular and free.
- 2Cross Club (5 min walk) is a must-visit even if you don't party — the industrial art installation inside is incredible.
- 3Grab street food at Manifesto Market Holešovice (8 min walk) instead of tourist-trap restaurants in Old Town.
- 4Tram 1 from Dělnická goes directly to the National Theatre / Old Town in 10 minutes — runs every 5 min.
🔥 Why We Love It
The BBQ garden is one of the best outdoor hostel spaces in Europe — sun deck, hammocks, and grill evenings.
Holešovice neighborhood gives you Prague's creative side: galleries, craft beer, street food markets.
The cellar bar has proper local pub energy with happy hours, live music, and karaoke.
One of Prague's original hostels — they've been doing this for years and it shows.
€15/night for all this in a city where tourist center hostels charge €25+ is exceptional value.
📖 The Full Story
Sir Toby's has been a Prague institution since the early days of the city's backpacker scene, and it's still here because it keeps evolving. The hostel occupies a converted apartment building on Dělnická street in Holešovice — a former industrial district that's become Prague's creative hub, packed with galleries, craft breweries, street food markets, and a growing coworking scene.
The garden is the star. BBQ evenings, picnic tables, hammocks, and a sun deck that catches afternoon light. In summer, this is where the hostel lives. The cellar below has been converted into a proper bar-lounge with happy hour specials, live music nights, karaoke sessions, and a warmth that feels more neighborhood pub than hostel bar.
The shared kitchen is large and well-equipped — Sir Toby's actually encourages communal cooking, and the garden BBQ gives you the space to do it properly. Breakfast is available, walking tours depart regularly, and the staff organizes evening entertainment most nights.
Holešovice is a 10-minute tram ride from Old Town (tram stop Dělnická is 30 seconds from the door), but many guests discover they prefer staying in the neighborhood. DOX art gallery, Manifesto Market, Cross Club, and Letná Park beer garden are all within walking distance.
