Sleep in Heaven

Sleep in Heaven is the kind of hostel that existed before hostels got fancy. On Struenseegade in Nørrebro, it's a no-frills, adults-only backpacker spot where the beer garden is the main attraction and the prices are the lowest you'll find in Copenhagen.

The common spaces have genuine charm: a cozy lounge, a game room with pool table, and a terrace/garden that comes alive on summer evenings. The happy hour at the bar is a lifesaver in Scandinavia's most expensive city. Walking tours and bike rentals are offered, and the staff are the kind of people who clearly chose to work in a hostel because they actually like travelers.

Rooms are basic but clean. Shared bathrooms. No air conditioning. No swimming pool. No cinema room. What you get instead is a bed for €22 in a city where most hostels charge €30+, in a neighborhood (Nørrebro) that's genuinely one of the best parts of Copenhagen for food and nightlife.

The trade-off is location: Nørrebro is a 25-minute walk or 15-minute bus from the city center. But Nørrebrogade's bars, shawarma joints, and coffee shops are steps away, and the metro runs 24/7.
