Room Pauli is the not-quite-hostel, not-quite-hotel on Friedrichstraße 11 — a small collection of individually themed studio rooms above a ground-floor commercial space, 3 minutes walk from Davidwache and the Reeperbahn junction. There's no shared kitchen, no dorms, no lobby. What there is: 10 or so private studio rooms, each with its own visual theme (one is done out like a pirate ship bunk, one like a miniature cinema room, one with painted forest murals), and a self-check-in key code.

The setup suits couples and solo travellers who want private-room privacy at hostel prices in the dead centre of St. Pauli. Every room comes with a kitchenette (microwave, electric kettle, mini-fridge — no stovetop), flat-screen TV with cable and Netflix, and either a private ensuite or a shared bathroom on the floor depending on rate. City view from street-side rooms; some rooms have landmark views onto the Reeperbahn lights at night, which is either a dream or a nightmare depending on your sleep schedule.

The location trade-off is the whole pitch. You're on Friedrichstraße, which runs north-south between Reeperbahn and Hein-Hoyer-Straße. Two minutes from Große Freiheit and its clubs. Three minutes from Beatles Platz. Five minutes from Landungsbrücken S-Bahn. You can hear the strip from your room on Friday and Saturday nights — the hostel provides earplugs free because they know, and they tell you at booking. Rooms that face the inner courtyard are markedly quieter.

It's adults-oriented — not 'adults-only' officially, but the 'not great for families' vibe is real. The stairs-only building (no lift, three floors up) and the thin walls of a converted old St. Pauli residential block rule it out for anyone who wants hotel-grade soundproofing. What you get instead is genuinely central Reeperbahn accommodation at €48-70, personality in the rooms, and a host who genuinely knows the neighborhood — ask for restaurant and bar recs at check-in if you can catch them.
