“I drank at both hostel bars across a four-night Utrecht trip. Strowis bar night one was the conversational hit — I bought a €3 Trappist, sat at the picnic table in the garden, and within ten minutes was three deep with a Slovenian solo backpacker, a Dutch couple back from Amsterdam, and the bartender (who turned out to be a former resident from 2019). The bar shut at 23:30 and we migrated across the street to ACU for €4 beers and DJ Sebastian's 90s house set until 02:00. Stayokay bar night three was the opposite vibe — I sat at the corner of the lobby bar with a craft IPA at 21:30, ended up in a 90-minute talk with a Turkish solo traveller about train routes through Germany, then went up to bed at 23:00. Tips for Choosing a Hostel with Bar in Utrecht

Strowis's bar opens around 17:00 — show up before 19:00 in summer for a picnic-table seat in the garden, after which the regulars take them and you'll be inside.
