CHORS Capsule Hostel
The capsule-pod boutique with art-gallery coffee house and a 6am breakfast
CHORS is Bratislava's capsule-boutique hybrid — Japanese-style pods with soundproofed walls, LED mood lighting, and an in-hostel coffee house with temporary art galleries, plus a rare-for-Bratislava from-6am breakfast. At Obchodná 43, it's 3 doors from Schöndorf and 15 doors from Hyde Park, but the product is completely different: this is the high-design pick at a hostel price.
CHORS rebuilt a mid-century Obchodná building into a capsule-hostel-meets-art-gallery — the ground floor is a proper coffee house with rotating art exhibits, the first floor up is private rooms, and the capsule pods start on the second floor and go up. This is not a bunk-bed dorm with a curtain; CHORS pods are walled, soundproofed, climate-controlled, with LED lighting that you can tune warm/cool and mood settings. A capsule holds a full-length single bed, a side shelf, charging outlets, and enough clearance to sit up and work on a laptop without hunching.
The location is Old Town center: Obchodná 43, 2 minutes walking to Michalská Gate, 4 minutes to the main square, 5 minutes to SNP Square. Unlike the Elephants chain, CHORS is not social-programming-driven — there's a bar but no nightly bar crawl, no themed dinners, no volunteer hype crew. The crowd skews slightly older (28-45) and more couple/solo-pro than stag-party. It's the pick for digital nomads, solo travelers who want quiet sleep, and couples who want a private room at hostel prices.
Breakfast is a real differentiator. It runs 06:00-10:00, buffet-style, included in most rates — eggs on demand, cold cuts, bread, cheese, fruit, coffee. For 06:00 bus departures (Vienna, Budapest) or early flights, this is the only Bratislava hostel with a proper breakfast at that hour. The coffee house continues through the day for the general public, turning the ground floor into a third space rather than a pure hostel lobby.
Fit test: you want the capsule-boutique experience at 28 EUR, quiet sleep, real breakfast, and a workspace option. You are not here to meet dorm friends or do bar crawls — pick Wild Elephants for that. Bicycles rentable on site, terrace upstairs, ping-pong in the lounge, temporary art installations rotating monthly make it feel more like a hip hotel than a hostel.

“The position is really good, on a busy street, but the hostel itself is very quiet. The capsules are really comfortable, spacious for a pod, and clean. All facilities were really clean. You can absolutely work from the capsule if you bring a laptop.”
“Great wee place for a great wee city. Got a private room for three. Bed massive and the other bed a good size. Breakfast from 6am which is rare — we normally miss breakfast due to moving on. Bag storage available.”
“The hostel is super well maintained, tidy, neat and clean. The staff is super friendly and aware of the surroundings, always keeping everything clean. The breakfast is super worth the money, recommended even if you're not staying for it alone.”
