It sits on the quieter east half of Trubarjeva — the Old Town strip that runs from Prešeren Square to the Dragon Bridge — three minutes on foot from the Triple Bridge and two from the Žmauc bar.

There are only eight rooms total: a mix of private doubles, triples and a family quad, most with private bathroom, a couple with shared. No dorms. The decor is clean Scandinavian-Slovenian (white walls, wood floors, grey linens, small desk, wardrobe) with double-glazed windows onto an interior courtyard. A small shared kitchen on the ground floor is genuinely equipped (stove, oven, fridge, kettle, basic spices) and is where guests end up mingling in the mornings.

The real draw is Marija. Every review mentions her: she handles check-in in person, runs a handwritten welcome note with Ljubljana tips on the back, and is the most-referenced hostel-host in the city for the quality of local recommendations. She will text you the morning of check-in with a precise walk-from-the-bus-station route, and again the evening you arrive asking if you'd like a Bled-day-trip print-out.

Dežnik skips the party scene entirely. No bar, no pub crawl, no 9 pm meetup. What it offers is the best-rated sleep in Ljubljana, a kitchen that actually works at 8 am, and the warmest host in the city. Reviewers repeatedly flag the location (Trubarjeva is the Old Town bar strip but Dežnik's interior courtyard rooms are soundproof) and the personal-level welcome. It's priced slightly above dorm rates because there are no dorms — a private double is €55 to €65 — but a single night costs the same as a grim mid-range hotel and gives you the hostel social option in the kitchen.
