Colo Colo opened in 2022 as Valencia's answer to the Asian capsule-hotel formula: every dorm bed is a full-size single in its own closeable pod, not a bunk with a flimsy curtain. Each pod has a roll-down privacy shutter, an internal reading light on a dimmer, two USB ports, a universal power socket, a small shelf, and a hook for the room key (which is a keycard tap). The bed is 90x200 with a proper mattress, not a thin foam pad. If you've been burned by privacy-curtain dorms where the curtain is too short, this is the answer.

The building is a refurbished 1970s Eixample block on Carrer del Doctor Sumsi, 2 minutes' walk from the Estació del Nord on one side and 5 minutes to Calle Cadiz on the other. The Eixample grid is the 19th-century commercial extension of Valencia: residential, quieter than Ciutat Vella, one metro stop from Plaza del Ayuntamiento. You give up the cobbled-street old-town postcard for a dramatically quieter night's sleep and proximity to the modernist Mercado Colón (5 minutes, gorgeous iron-and-tile food hall).

The kitchen is the bottleneck — small, single-induction, enough for reheating but not for a paella. Reviews consistently mention the kitchen as the weak point. The common room, however, works: big communal table, projector for evening films, and a coworking corner with monitors loaned from reception for 3 EUR a day. Colo Colo reads as a digital-nomad-friendly design hostel rather than a party-style social pick — it's the quietest hostel in this Valencia list, and intentionally so.

Privates are available too — 'single private beds' in the official name means a single-pod rate, but there are also proper twin rooms with two pods side by side and a shared desk. No breakfast on-site; Bluebell Coffee and Café Berlín are both 4 minutes' walk for the morning flat white.
