Sol Garden — Hostel with a Soul is an independently-owned hostel on Trščanska, in the strip between the bus station and the Old Town. You're 500m from the Roman Arena, 5 minutes walk from the bus station, 5 minutes from the ferry terminal, and 8 from the harbor promenade. It's the easiest hostel to reach in Pula if you're arriving late off the bus from Rovinj or Trieste, and the easiest to leave from at 06:00 if you're catching the early ferry to Venice.
The building is in a residential block — not the prettiest exterior, but inside it's a different story. Curtain-bunks in the dorms with individual lights, USB sockets, and card-controlled lockers (you check in, you get a card, the card opens your locker — no guest losing keys). AC throughout, shared bathrooms that are clean and sufficient for the dorm count, and a fully-equipped kitchen that opens onto a sun patio where the social scene actually happens.
The move with this hostel is to use it as a flexible Pula base when your travel plans are loose: easy arrivals, easy departures, central enough to walk everywhere, and friendly enough that solo travelers consistently make friends in the patio. Skip if you want sea views or a beach base; pick this if you want central, social, and stress-free for 1-4 nights, especially during festival season when the bus station is packed and walking 5 minutes with a heavy pack matters.
