Backpackers Chez Patrick sits on Rue Rossini, one block off Rue de France and the beachfront in the Quartier des Musiciens grid. The neighbourhood is the middle-class residential side of central Nice — cafés, bakeries, quiet at night, 4 minutes to pebbles. There are only 12 beds, split across a couple of small dorms and a private.
The place is owner-operated (currently by a woman reviewers repeatedly single out as 'pure love', no connection to the original Patrick). There's a small shared kitchen with tables, lockers, a shared bathroom, and — notably — no bar, no pub crawl, no reception screen you check in against. You ring the doorbell, someone comes down, you get a map and advice and a key.
This is the hostel for travellers who want the owner-run small-hostel experience at the cheapest end: solo travellers over 30 who'd rather chat with a host than drink at a hostel bar, women who specifically want a small quiet place (there's a female-only dorm), couples on a shoestring. It's the opposite of Villa Saint Exupery. Not for first-time backpackers who want scene.
