Tip Nº 01
Wednesday is the night for both formats: The People runs its DJ night and Ciarus often syncs movie night the same evening. If you're picking a 2-night stay, Wed-Thu beats Fri-Sat for The People (less bar vibration through dorms, same DJ programming).
Tip Nº 02
The People bar is open to non-guests — if you're staying at Ciarus but want the party formula, walk 12 minutes south to The People for the 18:00-20:00 happy hour, then continue 2 minutes east to Académie de la Bière on rue Adolphe-Seyboth.
Tip Nº 03
Ciarus restaurant fixed menu is 12 EUR (entrée+plat+dessert) Mon-Sat — open to non-guests too, and one of the few central Strasbourg kitchens still serving after 20:30 on Sundays. The People's restaurant requires a buffet add-on (8 EUR breakfast, 12 EUR dinner) and books guests-priority.
Tip Nº 04
Both hostels are 30 minutes from Christmas Market territory in late November-December. Their event programmes shift to themed dinners and mulled-wine evenings at Ciarus and themed cocktail nights at The People — book at least a month ahead for any December weekend night.
Tip Nº 05
The Krutenau bar circuit dies on Sunday — both hostels know this and run smaller in-house programming (Sunday quiz at The People, board-games drop-in at Ciarus). If your only night in Strasbourg is a Sunday, The People is still the better pick because the bar stays open to non-guests.
