“I've seen six different bands at Mondpalast's cellar across two Dresden trips, and the hit rate was maybe 4/6 — two were local heroes I'll remember, one was perfectly fine beer-soaked bar rock, one was an experimental electronic set I walked out of after 15 minutes. The Dresden music scene is self-curating through these small rooms, and when it's good, it's very good. Lollis's acoustic night was the most memorable musical moment of any hostel stay I've had — a Brazilian workawayer on guitar and an Italian visiting musician on cajón, 11pm in the common room, 15 of us on velvet sofas drinking the hostel's free tea.
