Jetpak Alternative Eco Hostel

Jetpak Alternative occupies the upper floors of an early-20th-century residential building on Siggrou, four minutes on foot from Aristotelous Square. High ceilings, wooden shutters, wrought-iron balconies opening over the street — the aesthetic is genuine Thessaloniki old-town, not a renovation-marketing photoshoot. Street-art murals line the common lounge and the stairwell.

The hostel is adults-only (18+) and the size is small: 32 beds across 5 dorms and 2 privates. Dorms are 4, 6, and 8-bed mixed, with wooden bunks, curtains, reading lights, and individual lockers inside each bed unit. The 4-bed dorms have en-suite bathrooms and small balconies; the 6 and 8-beds share floor bathrooms.

There is no bar and no kitchen — this is the explicit design choice that separates Jetpak from its neighbours. The ground floor has a small coffee nook with a machine, a kettle, and a fridge for guest use, plus a reading corner with Greek and English titles. Guests eat out (the address is surrounded by cheap gyros spots and Ladadika mezedopolia) and socialise in the lounge or on the building's shared balconies, which wrap the corner and catch a slice of the gulf.

The 'eco' in the name is about small choices rather than a branding exercise: solar water heating, LED lighting, refillable toiletry dispensers instead of plastic bottles, and bike rental at reception (€6/day) to reduce short-trip car use. Not a deep-green pitch, but the lightest environmental footprint of any central Thessaloniki hostel.
