The seven-story building is purpose-built for the job. Dorms occupy floors 1 to 6; the top floor is a full bar with a terrace wrapping around a west-facing elevation, giving you an unobstructed sunset view toward the Thermaic Gulf and the Olympus massif on a clear day. The bar serves €3 Vergina beers, €5 freddo cappuccinos, and €6 cocktails. It's not subsidized-in-disguise — it's a proper drinking venue that happens to be where you also sleep.
Dorms are 4, 6, and 8-bed mixed (adults only, 18+), with metal bunks, privacy curtains, in-bed reading lights, in-bed USB ports, and full-height lockers. Most 4-beds have en-suite bathrooms; the 6 and 8-beds share floor bathrooms. The shared kitchen is on the ground floor and is properly equipped: four hobs, two fridges, a real oven, communal spices, and a long table that seats 14.
The hostel runs two genuinely good tours: a free walking tour Wednesdays at 11:00 (meet at reception, 3-hour loop through Ano Poli), and a €15 bike tour Saturdays at 10:00 along the Nea Paralia promenade to Aretsou beach and back. Both are led by guides who actually live in Thessaloniki, not fly-in contractors. There's also a pub-crawl every Friday at 22:00 that stays inside the Valaoritou block — no cover, four-bar loop, back at the rooftop by 02:00.
