Hostel Mancini Naples
8.8-rated hostel five minutes from Napoli Centrale — included breakfast, real shared kitchen, family team
8.8-rated long-running hostel a five-minute walk from Naples Centrale train station — the right base for the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii, day trips to Caserta, and short stays before catching another train. Real shared kitchen, included breakfast, lockers in every dorm, and 24-hour reception. Run by Gosia and her husband, named in years of guest reviews.
Hostel Mancini sits on Via P.S. Mancini 33 in the area immediately west of Naples Centrale station — close enough to walk with luggage in five minutes, far enough off Piazza Garibaldi that the immediate street feels residential rather than coach-station chaos. The building has a working lift and a key-card entrance you can ring after midnight, which matters because every Circumvesuviana day-tripper to Pompeii ends up arriving back here at slightly different hours.
Dorms run from four to six beds, all with reading lights, in-dorm lockers (real lockers with key, not flimsy under-bed boxes), socket near the bed, and air conditioning. A handful of private rooms for couples and triples. Bathrooms are mostly shared on the corridor, in solid renovated condition. Linens, towels and basic toiletries are included.
The ground-floor common space holds the breakfast room (continental: bread, jam, cereal, coffee, tea, fruit — included in the rate), a real shared kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave for guests cooking pasta after a Pompeii day, and a small bar that runs evening drinks. Long-tenured staff Gosia and her husband are repeatedly named in reviews — the reason cleanliness, breakfast quality and "someone always there" all consistently score above 9.
The trade-offs: you are very close to the station, which means the walk in from Piazza Garibaldi is uninspiring and the immediate street is busier than scenic. The Centro Storico is 15 minutes on foot or three stops on metro line 1 from Garibaldi. Pick this hostel if your Naples plan involves trains: Pompeii, Caserta, Salerno, the airport bus from the station, or fast onward connections to Rome and Bari.

“Super convenient location, easy access to everywhere. The street doesn’t look very safe, but you need a card or to ring the bell to access the hotel, so it’s pretty secure. You can also leave your stuff there to pick up later. It’s really convenient for people heading to the airport later.”
