Tip Nº 01
Tuscan BBQ supplies for Hostel Pisa Tower's pit: walk 10 min to Conad Borgo Stretto for local salsiccia (6 EUR/kg) and Chianti table wine (5 EUR/bottle); the upscale alternative is Macelleria Bardotti on Via San Martino for dry-aged bistecca (closes Saturday afternoon).
Tip Nº 02
Garden capacity: Hostel Pisa Tower's garden seats ~12 comfortably, Safestay Centrale's seats ~25; show up to either before 19:00 in July-August to claim a chair, or after 22:00 when the day-trippers have left.
Tip Nº 03
Both gardens close at 22:00 by house rules; Safestay Centrale's bar then continues indoors until 02:00, Hostel Pisa Tower has no late option (the lounge with board games is the indoor fallback).
Tip Nº 04
Mosquitoes are real on Pisa summer evenings (the Arno is close); the hostels keep citronella but bring your own repellent if you're sensitive — June and August are the peak months.
Tip Nº 05
If you want a garden but neither of these matches, the public option is Giardino Scotto (medieval fortress turned park, 12 min walk from Pisa Centrale) — open until 22:00 in summer, free, often hosts open-air cinema.
