Ostello Alfieri 2
The all-amenities Crocetta hostel: bar, garden, games room, breakfast included, the deepest event program in Turin.
Ostello Alfieri 2 is a 100-bed full-amenities hostel on Corso Racconigi in Crocetta, near the Polytechnic University. Bar, garden, games room, bicycle parking, an Italian buffet breakfast, pet-friendly rooms, and an event schedule that spans walking tours, live music nights, and happy hours.
Ostello Alfieri 2 occupies a 1970s mid-rise on Corso Racconigi 143, in the residential zone between Crocetta and San Paolo, 1.1 km from the Polytechnic University and 1.7 km from Porta Nuova. The 'Alfieri 2' name refers to the second property of the small chain — Alfieri 1 is in the Centro Storico but is consistently rated lower; Alfieri 2 is the one to book.
The building is functional, not romantic — concrete, tile floors, modern bathrooms — but the amenity stack is unusually deep for a budget hostel. Ground floor: reception, bar, breakfast room, lounge, games room with table football and board games. First floor: shared kitchen and the cheaper dorms. Second through fourth floors: dorms and private rooms. There's a small garden out back used for breakfast in summer.
Dorm sizes range from 4-bed to 12-bed. The 12-bed is the cheapest bed in Turin (€19 in low season) and is right next to the bar wall — light sleepers should pay the €5 upgrade to a 6-bed. Private rooms have en-suite bathrooms, AC, hairdryer, TV. Pet-friendly rooms are on the third floor, €10/night per dog.
The in-house bar is the social engine. Happy hour 18h to 20h with €4 cocktails (a Negroni at this price beats any other Turin hostel), Italian breakfast 7h to 10h with the buffet refreshed twice. Live music is booked irregularly on weekends — usually a singer-guitarist in the lounge from 21h. Walking tour at 10h daily, free for guests.
Location: Tram 4 (the all-night line) on Corso Racconigi runs you to Centro in 12 minutes. Porta Nuova is a 22-minute walk south. The Polytechnic and the Allianz Stadium are northwest. The neighborhood itself is residential — fewer bars, more quiet streets, plus a mid-range trattoria scene that's noticeably cheaper than Quadrilatero Romano.

“Very good value for money — the hostel is clean, spacious and has all the basics. Happy hour was the highlight. The 12-bed dorm is loud near the bar wall though, get the 6-bed.”
