Urban Style Old Town is a small, owner-run hostel on D. Poškos gatvė, three blocks south of Kaunas Cathedral and four from the Town Hall Square. It's the only Old Town hostel in our viable list, and it punches above its weight on cleanliness — multiple recent guests use the word 'cozy' before they use the word 'hostel'.
The building is a small townhouse on a residential side street, two blocks off the cobbles of Vilniaus gatvė and within easy reach of the cathedral, the castle, and the Praga / Kavinė Galerija food cluster. Self-check-in works on a keypad — codes by email the morning of arrival — which makes it usable for the late ferry/bus crowd from Vilnius.
Layout is intimate: 4-, 6-, and 8-bed mixed dorms on the upper floor, two private twins on the ground floor, all sharing two bathrooms (one per floor) and a shared kitchen. The kitchen is real — full-size fridge, two hobs, microwave, decent cookware — not the apologetic kettle-and-shelf you sometimes get in Baltic budget hostels. The lounge is the kitchen; there's no separate common room.
Location is the Old Town pitch you came for: three minutes to the cathedral, five to Town Hall Square, six to the Kaunas Castle and the Nemunas-Neris confluence walk, ten to the bottom of Laisvės alėja. The synagogue and the Vytautas the Great War Museum are eight minutes; you can build a full day on foot from the front door.
Who this is for: travellers who want to base in Old Town and not in the modernist quarter, solo backpackers who like small properties (under 25 beds total), self-check-in late-arrivers from Vilnius. Not for travellers expecting a manned reception or a structured social programme.
