Dzien Dobry Hostel
9.0-rated Granary Island hostel two minutes from the Long Market — equipped kitchen, game room, 4-bed dorms with private bathrooms
9.0-rated modern hostel on Granary Island, two minutes across the Motlawa footbridge from the Long Market. Fully equipped shared kitchen, lift, lounge with pool table and bar, 4-bed dorms with private bathrooms. Best budget pick if you want the Old Town from your window without paying Old Town prices.
Dzien Dobry (Polish for "good morning") sits on Wyspa Spichrzow — the reconstructed Granary Island across the Motlawa from Gdansk's postcard Long Market. The building is five minutes from the main train station and about two minutes across the foot bridge from Mariacka amber street, which makes it the best "one foot in the Old Town, one foot out" location for budget travelers.
The 4-bed mixed dorms are the signature: each bed has its own reading light, lockers big enough for a 60-litre pack, and every dorm has its own private bathroom inside the room — no corridor trips in your towel. Private twins and quads are also bookable. The building has a lift, which matters because reception is on the first floor and the party dorms are on the fourth.
The common floor has a genuinely useful kitchen (induction hobs, a proper oven, two fridges, pans, knives, a coffee machine), a lounge with a pool table and Xbox, and a small bar where the host pours local Amber Gold and Piwo Gdanskie in the evening. It is not a party hostel — quiet hours are real, the kitchen is the social anchor, not a crawl.
Breakfast is not included but there is a paid continental option (pastries, cold cuts, eggs, coffee, ~25 PLN). Most guests skip it and walk three minutes to Bar Mleczny Neptun for cheaper pierogi and zurek. Check-in from 14:00 is flexible, late arrivals should message ahead.
- 01Granary Island location — 90 seconds across the footbridge from Dlugi Targ, and the Old Town view from the north-facing dorms is better than most four-star hotels
- 02Private en-suite in every 4-bed dorm (rare in Poland at this price point)
- 03Properly equipped kitchen — induction hobs, an oven, coffee machine, two fridges — not the usual microwave-only joke
- 04Lift to all floors (matters if you arrive after the 10km ECS walk with a 15kg pack)
- 05Quiet-hours respected, reading lights in every bunk — dorm sleep is actually possible here
- Granary Island location — 2 min to Long Market via footbridge
- 4-bed dorms with private en-suite bathroom (unusual in Poland)
- Fully equipped kitchen with oven, induction hobs, coffee machine
- Lift, pool table, Xbox, quiet-hour respected
