Trip & Hostel
8.3-rated social hostel five minutes from Dlugi Targ — free breakfast included, weekly pub crawl, daily tour desk, between station and Old Town
8.3-rated social hostel on Targ Drzewny, 6 minutes from Gdansk Glowny train station and 5 minutes from the Long Market. Daily breakfast included, tour desk running the best pub crawl in town, games night on weekends. Most sociable hostel in the Old Town perimeter.
Trip & Hostel occupies three floors of a corner building on Targ Drzewny, the old timber-market square that sits exactly between Gdansk Glowny station (6-minute walk) and the Old Town Gate (5-minute walk). That middle position is the practical selling point: you arrive off the Warsaw/Berlin train and you're at the hostel before your backpack feels heavy.
Dorms run 4 to 10 beds with lockers, reading lights and shared corridor bathrooms. A handful of private twins and doubles with en-suite are available for a premium. Furniture is modern-ish IKEA-era bunks, not the wobbly wooden frames of the cheaper Old Town hostels. The building has lift access, which matters if you're lugging gear up to the top-floor 10-bed.
The ground floor is where the character lives: a 24-hour reception, a proper tour desk with a handwritten whiteboard of that day's options (free walking tour at 11:00, Tipsy pub crawl Fridays, Westerplatte boat trip 14:00), and a lounge with a small bar and a pool table. Weekend evenings turn into loose games nights — there's no curated event schedule, but the hostel manager is usually pouring beers after 21:00.
A light continental breakfast is included: pastries, cheese and ham, boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, served 07:00 to 10:00. It's not a feast but it's there. Between the breakfast, the tour desk, and the walking-distance-to-everything location, Trip & Hostel is the most frictionless social pick in central Gdansk.

“Brilliant location, right between the station and Old Town. The staff organised a pub crawl on Friday night which was the best part of my stay, met half the hostel. Breakfast was a nice bonus.”
“Great for solo travellers. Lounge was always lively in the evening, people were easy to talk to. Breakfast was simple but you don't pay extra so no complaints.”
“Stayed 4 nights. The 4-bed dorm was comfortable, the tour desk was genuinely useful (I did the Westerplatte boat). Only downside was some weekend noise from the bar downstairs.”
