Our Honest Take
From the Hostelpedia team. No BS, just real advice
Hostel Coco is the right pick if your Warsaw stay is train-in, transfer-out, not sightseeing. You're 10 minutes walking to Warszawa Centralna and 12 minutes to Warszawa Zachodnia (Modlin Ryanair buses) โ the closest hostel to both. Shared kitchen is genuinely good (stove, microwave, coffee machine, kitchenware), self check-in lets you roll in at 3am, linens are included. Skip it if you want Old Town atmosphere within walking distance โ that's 15 minutes on the tram. Real tip: request a courtyard-facing room, not an Al. Jerozolimskie-side room. The courtyard side is markedly quieter; the street side catches 5am tram noise from the Zachodnia route. For the 4:30am Modlin bus, walk โ the N buses don't cover this stretch cleanly, and the 12-minute walk to Zachodnia is flat and lit.
๐ฏ Insider Tips
- 1Request a courtyard-facing room. Al. Jerozolimskie-side rooms catch early tram noise; courtyard rooms are genuinely quieter.
- 2Book the self check-in option โ it's smoother than waiting for a manned reception, especially if your ground transport lands after 22h.
- 3Walk to Warszawa Zachodnia for Modlin buses (12 minutes, flat, lit) rather than taking a late-night tram. Night-service connections here are patchy.
- 4Shared kitchen has a coffee machine, not just a kettle. Bring your own ground coffee from Biedronka on Grรณjecka โ it saves 15 zล a day vs cafe runs.
๐ฅ Why We Love It
Closest Warsaw hostel to both Warszawa Centralna (train, airport S2) and Warszawa Zachodnia (Modlin bus terminal)
Shared kitchen fully kitted โ stove, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, kitchenware, fridge
Self-service check-in (keycard via email) for late arrivals and early departures
Linens and towels included โ cleaner budget-total than hostels that charge extra for them
๐ The Full Story
Hostel Coco occupies a floor in a residential block at Al. Jerozolimskie 107 in Ochota, one of Warsaw's western districts. The geography is the whole pitch: you are 10 minutes walking to Warszawa Centralna (main train station, airport-train S2 platform), 12 minutes to Warszawa Zachodnia (bus terminal, Modlin Airport buses), and 4 tram stops from the Old Town via lines 9/22/24/25. For travellers building Warsaw around train-in / bus-to-Modlin / flight-out itineraries, no other Warsaw hostel comes closer.
Inside, it's a modest-scale, modern hostel: bright rooms with kitchenette, patio views into an inner courtyard, and the full self-catering setup Polish hostels do well โ shared kitchen with stove, microwave, coffee machine, electric kettle, kitchenware, fridge, dining table. Some rooms have private patios onto the courtyard; some have inner-courtyard views which are noticeably quieter than the Al. Jerozolimskie street-side rooms (those pick up tram noise from 5am).
Self-service check-in is the modern touch here โ you get a keycard code by email and skip reception entirely if your bus gets in at 23h. Linens and towels are included (unlike some Warsaw hostels where they're an extra fee), and the shared bathroom per floor comes with full toiletries. Family rooms (4-bed private) are available, which matters for small groups not wanting to split dorms.
The crowd is pragmatic travellers โ road-trippers driving through, travellers doing Baltic-Poland connection, budget backpackers on a tight transfer schedule. Less 'make friends in the common room' (there is a common area but it's modest), more 'sleep 8 hours, eat a microwaved dinner, catch the 5am bus with a clean shower'. If that's your Warsaw, Coco is precisely calibrated for it, and the 8.3 rating from 2,695 reviews reflects a consistently-delivered specific pitch.
