Passenger Hostel is the practical pick — the address is on Braće Ribnikar, four minutes on foot from the train station and a similar walk from the long-distance bus station, which means you can land off the Belgrade airport bus and be checking in within fifteen minutes. The trade-off is that you're not in Stari Grad — the historic center is a 12-minute walk through residential blocks. For most backpackers that's an acceptable swap for a €14 bed and a 9.3 rating.

The hostel runs out of an apartment-block conversion: a small operation with shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen, a TV lounge, and the lowest-priced beds in central Novi Sad. The dorms are basic but clean — Booking reviewers consistently use the word 'spotless' — with parquet floors, soundproofing, AC, and a lockable wardrobe per bed. Bathrooms are shared on the hall but always have hot water.

The star of the place is Zoran, the host. The reviews are full of him — 'King Zoran', 'amazing property owner', 'always available', 'felt like home'. He runs a one-man hospitality show: airport pickup arrangements, breakfast tips, the right cevabdzinica around the corner, the right bus to Sremski Karlovci. If you're a solo traveler who values a real human host over a check-in tablet, Passenger Hostel is the call.
