CafDorm sits at Slovenska ulica 39, the pedestrian shopping street that runs north from the bus station to Glavni trg — two minutes south to the main square, ten minutes north to the train station, no car traffic the entire way. The address is a single staircase up from a working third-wave coffee shop (CAF, the same owners), which doubles as the hostel's reception, breakfast room, and de facto common space.

The layout is small: 14 beds split between three mixed dorms (4, 4, 6) and one private double — no female-only dorm, no rooftop, no formal bar. What it does have is a curated, design-forward feel that's rare at this price (€25 starts from), a dedicated guest kitchen on the second floor with a small balcony onto the courtyard, and the unfair advantage of having Maribor's best espresso bar already built into the ground floor.

The social scene is intimate by design. There's no in-house bar crawl, but reception keeps a hand-written notebook of the week's best Lent gigs and which Pekarna courtyard nights are worth the 12-minute walk. Travellers tend to converge in the coffee shop in the morning and at the kitchen-balcony in the evening; the rest of the time the centre is at your door.

The right call for design-conscious solo travellers and couples who want walkable-everything and don't need an in-house party scene.
