Best Hostels with a Bar in Innsbruck

Innsbruck's nightlife is small — a few real spots in the Altstadt, Treibhaus and Weekender Club doing the heavy lifting after 22:00, most other places winding down by midnight. Two hostels in town skip the "walk to Maria-Theresien-Straße and hope" loop by running actual bars in-house: Montagu's ground-floor bar with live music and DJ nights, and Marmota's cozier common-room bar with a Wine/Champagne list. Both are adults-friendly social scenes where you can have a real evening without leaving the building.

§ 01 — Traveler's take
We based five nights at Montagu and never crossed the Innbrücke for drinks. The Thursday live music night drew a mix of hostel guests and Hötting locals, Friday DJ filled up around 23:00, and we'd walk three floors up to bed at 01:00 without a €15 taxi home. A few nights later we tried Marmota on a changeover night; totally different vibe but same idea — wine on the terrace at sunset, then board games in the common room till 22:00.

Montagu Hostel & Bar

Montagu Hostel & Bar is the 8.7-rated adults-only social pick in Innsbruck: a Hötting townhouse with a sun terrace, a proper ground-floor bar with live music and DJ nights, a well-equipped shared kitchen, and rooms with parquet floors and private bathrooms. Four minutes across the Innbrücke to the Altstadt, and unlike every other hostel in town, this one has actual nightlife on-site.

  • Working ground-floor bar with live music and DJ nights
  • Sun deck and terrace facing the Nordkette ridgeline
  • Private bathroom in every dorm and private room
  • 4 min walk across the Innbrücke to the Altstadt

Hostel Marmota

Hostel Marmota is the 8.0-rated mountain-base pick in Amras on the southeast edge of Innsbruck, closer to Schloss Ambras and the Patscherkofel cable car than to the Altstadt. Every room has a private bathroom, there's a cozy common-room bar, bike and ski rental, a terrace with Nordkette views, and the place is built around guests who want city access AND trail-head proximity. Self check-in tablet after 22:00.

  • Private bathroom in every room, including dorms
  • Common-room bar with Wine/Champagne list and craft beer
  • South-facing terrace with Nordkette views
  • Bike and ski rental on-site, secure bike room

Tips for Choosing a Hostel with Bar in Innsbruck

Tip Nº 01

Montagu's bar programming shifts through the week: Monday-Wednesday is quieter wine/cocktail sessions, Thursday is live music, Friday-Saturday is DJ/nightclub, Sunday winds down by 23:00. Pick your stay to match the energy you want.

Tip Nº 02

Marmota's bar closes at 22:00 weeknights — earlier than most hostel bars in Europe. If you're planning to stay out later, the Altstadt is 25 minutes by bus 4 but the bus stops running at 23:00, so plan a €15 taxi back or don't go out.

Tip Nº 03

Non-guests can walk into Montagu's bar from the street (it's a real neighborhood spot), so you'll meet Hötting locals alongside travellers. Marmota's bar is guests-only, which gives it a smaller, more insular feel — better for introvert-friendly nights.

Tip Nº 04

Both bars accept card payments (Austria is cash-lite for a German-speaking country), and Austrian beer is cheaper than in Innsbruck's Altstadt bars: €4.80 for a Stiegl at Montagu vs €5.50 in town.
