The Legacy is the Brussels hostel you pick if making friends is on the itinerary. 2GO4 runs three hostels in town and this is their best-programmed one — the 10:30 walking tour and the Friday bar-crawl aren't tacked-on marketing, they're actually staff-led and regularly attended. Dorm rooms themselves are standard metal-bunk, so the 'hostel' experience here is deliberately the common room, not the sleep. 26 EUR in an 8-bed dorm with kitchen access and a free guided tour every morning is a genuine bargain, as long as you understand the trade-offs: bathroom queues on check-out mornings and a boulevard location that's functional rather than pretty. Skip Legacy if you want quiet sleep or a Marolles-style neighbourhood walk — pick Bruegel or BX Downtown instead.

It's the larger of the two 2GO4 City Center hostels — 2GO4 is a small Brussels-only operator that has carved out the 'social hostel' niche that HI and independents like Sleep Well don't try to fill.
The building is a converted office block. Dorms are clean, functional, and mostly 4-to-8-bed with standard metal bunks and lockers; private rooms are on the upper floors. What sets Legacy apart isn't the rooms, it's the programming: a proper shared kitchen (four hobs, two fridges, 24-hour access) that triples as common space in the evening, a daily walking tour meet-up at 10:30 (tip-based, guided by staff), a Friday-night bar-crawl sign-up, and a lounge with PS5, board games, and decent sofas.
Staff lean young and talkative — they'll ask where you're from, what you're doing in Brussels, and hand you a paper map with their own recommendations written on it. That's rare in Europe at this price. The clientele matches: mostly solo travelers in their 20s, some small groups, occasional school groups in shoulder season.
Two caveats: the 8-bed dorms on the lower floors share a floor bathroom that gets crowded from 7:30 to 8:30 on check-out mornings, and the neighbourhood — north Pentagon — is fine but not atmospheric. You're staying here for the social scene, not the windows.
