Sleep Well sits on Rue du Damier at the top of the Pentagon, five minutes downhill from Rogier metro (lines 2 and 6) and ten from the Grand Place if you walk via Rue Neuve. It's the Brussels hostel with the longest track record — 16,000+ reviews logged on Booking — and the only one at this scale that's genuinely independent (not HI, not a chain).

The footprint is sprawling by Brussels standards: three floors of dorms and privates, a proper shared kitchen with four hobs and two fridges, a bar that opens from 17:00, a decent breakfast hall (6.50 EUR supplement), a common room with board games and table football, and a small interior courtyard garden that fills on sunny evenings. Housekeeping runs every morning. Linens and towels are included.

Dorm layouts are functional rather than boutique — standard metal bunks with drawer-sized lockers, curtains optional. Upgrade to a 4-bed if you can; the 8-beds at the front of the building catch Rue du Damier bar-return noise on Friday and Saturday. Private rooms on the upper floors are quieter and include a small terrace view over the Jardin Botanique.

The clientele skews young — school groups in shoulder seasons, 20-something backpackers the rest of the year. Night staff speak English, French, Dutch, some Spanish. It's not a quiet boutique stay, but for 31 EUR with a kitchen and a garden inside the Pentagon, very little beats it in Brussels.
