David's rooftop is the after-Stari-Most magnet — happy hour from 19:00, owner-led day tour to Kravice, and the only Mostar hostel where Friday nights consistently push past 1am.

§ 01 — Summary

Hostel David is a 9.2/10 owner-run hostel on Pere Lažetića (the same Carina street as Hostel Miran, three doors up), six minutes uphill from Stari Most. Owner David runs a rooftop terrace with a 2-for-1 happy hour starting 19:00, an owner-led 30 EUR Herzegovina day tour, and the loudest social scene in the Mostar 9+/10 bracket.

§ 02 — The full story

Hostel David sits at Pere Lažetića 6 in Carina, three doors up the slope from Hostel Miran and six minutes uphill from Stari Most. The street is residential during the day; the rooftop is the differentiator at night. Open-air, sunset-facing toward the river canyon, with twelve seats around a long timber table, two umbrellas and a bar in the corner that runs a happy hour from 19:00 (a four-euro local beer becomes a two-euro local beer; rakija shots stay at 2 EUR all night). It's the busiest after-bridge social anchor in Mostar's 9+ bracket.

The building has eight rooms — three mixed dorms (4 and 6-bed), four private doubles and a private triple. Most rooms have private in-room bathrooms, including the dorms (rare for Mostar at this price). Air-conditioning is in every room. Some private doubles have a balcony onto the street; the dorm windows face the back garden. Wi-Fi reaches every room and the rooftop.

David's day tour to Blagaj-Kravice-Pocitelj runs daily at 9:30 — six-person van, David driving, 30 EUR including park entries and a packed lunch. Back by 6pm. The breakfast (free, until 10:30) is leaner than at Miran's place — bread, cheese, cured meats, eggs to order, Bosnian coffee — but the rooftop happy hour is the trade-off.

Who this is for: travellers who want a social hostel with a roof terrace and the cheapest beer-and-rakija happy hour in Mostar's 9+ tier. Who it's not for: anyone who needs to sleep before 1am on a Friday or Saturday — sound carries, especially to the lower private doubles facing the rooftop staircase.

If you are visiting Mostar and don't stay at David's Hostel, you are truly missing out. The rooftop happy hour pulled every guest up at 7pm and we were still there at midnight. The day tour the next morning was the perfect hangover cure with the swim at Kravice.

Staying at Hostel David Mostar was truly one of the best experiences of my trip! David is the most welcoming host and the rooftop is the best view in the neighbourhood. The day tour was excellent, real local insight.

The rooftop is the highlight, especially at sunset. The dorm had its own bathroom which was unexpected and great. Friday night the rooftop had a guitar player and we stayed up until 1am. Bring earplugs if you're in the front rooms.
