§ 01 — Summary

Hostel Mirror is a 9.2/10 family-run guesthouse on Brace Krpo, eight minutes uphill from Stari Most, with a tiered garden looking down toward the Neretva and the Old Bridge in the distance. Owner Tiffany — the name comes up in 80% of the 605 reviews — runs the front desk, the breakfast, the rakija round at 9pm and the booking concierge for buses south.

§ 02 — The full story

Hostel Mirror is built into the Brankovac hillside on Brace Krpo, an eight-minute uphill walk east of Stari Most. The terrain is the design feature: the garden steps down on three levels, with the breakfast terrace at the top, a covered lounge mid-level, and a bar nook below where the evening rakija round happens. From the upper terrace you can see the minaret of Karadjozbeg Mosque and, if you crane, the Old Bridge itself.

The building is a stone-and-timber Bosnian house with seven rooms — three mixed dorms (4-bed and 6-bed), three private doubles and a triple. Every room has air-conditioning (essential in July), an interior bathroom (no floor bathrooms here, unusual for the Mostar price bracket), and a small balcony or window onto the garden. Wi-Fi reaches every room. The mattresses are firmer than the Mostar average — some reviews flag this; pillow-top sleepers should bring a topper.

Tiffany's social anchor is the 9pm rakija round in the garden. Plum, walnut, honey-pear: she pours, tells the story of her grandfather's still in Stolac, and somehow you've signed up for the Kravice-Blagaj-Pocitelj day tour by 10pm. The tour is 30 EUR, six-person van, run with her brother-in-law driving. Breakfast is served from 8 to 11 — homemade burek, fresh bread from Pekara MM (the local west-side bakery), Bosnian coffee, eggs.

Who this is for: travellers who care about the host relationship and the garden socialising more than the cheapest bed in town. Who it's not for: anyone who wants 24h reception (Tiffany sleeps; check-in cuts off at 23:00 unless arranged) or to stay in the absolute centre of the bazaar.

The room I stayed in was perfect, the owner Tiffany puts a lot of love and care into this place. The garden was the highlight — I ended up booking the day tour to Kravice and it was the best part of our Balkans trip.

Tiffany is a lovely host and gave me all the tips for the area. Everything was so well thought through, from the breakfast on the upper terrace to the rakija round at 9pm. The dorm bathroom was inside the room which was unexpected.

Beautiful hillside garden with three levels, all built by hand by Tiffany's family. The walk to Stari Most is downhill in five minutes and uphill in ten. Worth the climb. The day tour to Blagaj and Kravice was excellent.
