Hostel 365 For U
Dubrovnik's top-rated hostel: Gruž port, half the Old Town price, free breakfast and rooftop
Dubrovnik's highest-rated hostel at 8.8, in Gruž port district 2 km from Old Town. Newly renovated 2023, stylish dorms with reading lights and personal lockers, full shared kitchen, staff-led walking tours, free breakfast, and rooftop terrace. A 10-minute bus 1A/1B ride drops you at Pile Gate — half the dorm price of anything inside the walls.
Hostel 365 For U opened its renovated Vukovarska 14b building in 2023 in Gruž, Dubrovnik's port district 2 km northwest of the Old Town. Gruž is where the ferries and intercity buses arrive and where locals actually eat — a 10-minute bus 1A/1B ride (€2 from the driver, runs every 15 min until midnight) drops you at Pile Gate and the western entrance to the walls.
The place sleeps around 60 in a mix of 4, 6, and 8-bed mixed and female-only dorms, plus two private doubles. Every bunk has a reading light, a USB socket, a privacy curtain, and a personal locker big enough for a 60-litre backpack (bring a padlock or buy one at reception for €3). Air conditioning runs hostel-wide from June to September — critical since Dubrovnik hits 35 °C in July.
Breakfast is included: eggs, bread, cheese, ham, fresh fruit, filter coffee and tea, served 7 to 10 am in the ground-floor lounge. Not gourmet but enough to skip the €12 Old Town café breakfast on the way out. The shared kitchen runs 24/7 with a stove, oven, fridge, spice rack and free pasta-rice-olive-oil staples. There's a small rooftop terrace with deck chairs that opens at 5 pm and a ground-floor social bar serving Karlovačko (€3) and Ožujsko (€3.50) on tap.
Reviewers consistently flag three things: the stylish fresh design, the staff (Dino and Mira answer every question from Buza Bar directions to peka reservations), and the free walking tour to Old Town most mornings at 10 am. Downside: you're 2 km from the walls, so if you want to fall out of Buza Bar into bed, pick an Old Town dorm instead. For everyone else the Gruž location is the better trade — cheaper beer, real grocery stores, and catamarans to Korčula/Hvar leaving from the port 5 minutes away.
