§ 01 — Summary

Small-format pod-style hostel on the Lapad promenade edge, 2 minutes from Gruž catamaran terminal and 12 minutes by bus to Pile Gate. Capsule bunks with full curtains, reading lights, charging ports and large personal lockers — the closest thing in Dubrovnik to a Japanese pod hotel at a backpacker price point. Quiet by design, female dorm available, bike rental at reception.

§ 02 — The full story

Hostel Petra Marina sits on Obala Stjepana Radića 25, the waterfront promenade that runs from Gruž port along the northern edge of the Lapad peninsula. It's a 2-minute walk from the Kapetan Luka catamaran terminal (onward to Korčula, Hvar, Split) and the intercity bus station, and 12 minutes by bus 1A/1B/3/8 to Pile Gate.

The hostel runs a pod-style layout that stands out in Dubrovnik: 40 beds across four dorms (6, 8 and two 10-bed), each bunk a self-contained capsule with a full privacy curtain (not just a token strip), an interior reading light, two USB charging ports, and a ceiling-height frame so you can sit up without knocking your head. The lockers are genuinely large — 60-litre bag plus daypack fits with room to spare — and the bathrooms are pristine with rain showers.

There's a shared kitchen on the ground floor (stove, fridge, microwave, kettle, filter coffee machine — no oven, no free staples), a small lounge with a water-view terrace, and a tiny bar selling Karlovačko (€3) until 11 pm. A self-service washing machine runs €5 per load. Bike rental at reception is €12 per day and the Lapad promenade bike path connects straight to Copacabana Beach and Babin Kuk in 15 minutes of flat riding.

Reviewers almost universally flag two things: the privacy curtains that actually work (critical at the 10-bed dorms) and the location trade — 2 minutes to catamarans and groceries but not the best choice if you want to fall out of Old Town bars into bed. For pod-hostel enthusiasts and female solo travelers, it's the best-rated small-format option in the city.

Very private pods. Comfortable, good bedding, good shower, big lockers. This hostel gets all the basics right and the location is two minutes from the ferry port.

Bunks have curtains and there is a lot of space to put belongings in the bunk and in the locker. Not a party hostel but I wanted sleep before the early catamaran to Hvar.

A quiet private hostel with limited rooms, generally quiet and comfy. Walking distance to bus station and catamaran. Staff helped with onward ferry tickets.
