Schrott Bed&Beer is an adults-only hostel sitting directly above the Schrott craft beer pub on Křenová, 5 minutes' walk from Brno Main Station. The hostel side has a shared kitchen, hypoallergenic bedding, parquet floors, lockers in every room, and free earplugs at reception. Reception is staffed from 15:00 onwards because the team works the bar downstairs.
Schrott Bed&Beer is the literal definition of a beer-focused hostel: it's the seven dorm rooms above Schrott Bar, an actual craft beer pub on Křenová Street that's been in the Brno top-five list for the past three years. The two operations share staff and reception — which is why check-in only opens at 15:00 (when the bar opens) and the front desk is always at the bar downstairs, not behind a hostel counter. You message ahead with arrival time, they meet you, you get the keys, then you can park your bag and head down for a half-litre of whatever Czech micro is on tap that week.
The hostel side is intentionally minimalist: parquet floors, hypoallergenic bedding, wardrobes, in-room lockers with sockets near each bed, shared bathrooms with hairdryers, a small kitchen with a fridge and free coffee, and a calm sitting area for reading. No breakfast included — but the bar has snack food if you need it, and a Lidl-style supermarket is a 4-min walk on Cejl. There's no bar crawl, no organized events, no DJ — the bar is the social engine.
Křenová is the gritty east-of-the-station neighborhood (formerly known as the Bronx — improving fast but still a bit rough at the edges). It's safe by day and by hostel-going-and-coming hours, but if you're walking back at 3am from the city centre, take Masarykova not Cejl. Wake Up Wellness is two doors down on the same street, so this is essentially the budget-hostel block of Brno.
Who it's for: solo travelers and couples who want quiet rooms above a great bar, light sleepers who'll appreciate the free earplugs and the calm hostel side, and anyone interested in Czech craft beer beyond the Pilsner-Urquell mass market. Adults only — no kids, no families, no groups.
