Wombat's second Munich flagship is the adults-only outpost in Werksviertel, the post-industrial entertainment district east of Ostbahnhof. Shared kitchen, on-site bar with happy hour, karaoke and evening entertainment, walking tours, and rooftop terrace. Six minutes walk from Ostbahnhof and Blitz Club.
Wombat's Werksviertel is Wombat's take on Munich's rebuilt industrial district. Atelierstraße 20 sits inside Werksviertel-Mitte, a compound that used to make potato warehouses and now holds Blitz techno club, shipping-container bars, a ferris wheel, and concrete art installations. Ostbahnhof S-Bahn is six minutes away — Marienplatz is two stops or twenty minutes on foot through Haidhausen's bars.
Adults-only is the key difference from the Hauptbahnhof sister. No school groups, no youth-hostel curfews, no 9pm lobby emptying. The lobby bar runs happy hour every night, karaoke twice a week, and the Woma(r)ts staff actually know the Werksviertel club calendar. Walking tours leave from the lobby. The shared kitchen is proper, not the token single-hob most hostels call a kitchen, and self-catering works here because Aldi and Edeka are under 8 minutes away.
The trade-off is distance from Altstadt. You're 20 minutes from Marienplatz on foot or 4 on the U5, which matters if your day plan is Frauenkirche-Viktualienmarkt-Hofbräuhaus. It's perfect if your day plan is Blitz-Kultfabrik-Haidhausen-home. Rooftop terrace catches afternoon sun and is where the happy hour crowd migrates when the lobby bar fills up.
