It occupies the fourth floor of a converted apartment building on Kaļķu iela, Old Town's pedestrianized central street, and the working elevator is a genuine selling point here: half the Old Town hostels sit on third and fourth floors with no lift, and Tree House doesn't.
Interior design is bright Scandinavian-minimalist: white walls, pale wood, large windows facing Kaļķu iela or the inner courtyard. Dorms are 4, 6 and 8-bed with reading lights, sockets and under-bed lockers. Shared bathrooms run on a ratio of one per four-to-five beds. The shared kitchen has a proper oven (rare), a toaster, kettle, and full kitchenware, so baking and actual cooking both work.
No in-house bar, no organized pub crawl — Tree House leans on its location. You're one minute from the Freedom Monument, two minutes from Dome Cathedral, and two minutes from St Peter's Church tower.
